Education and Training for Hairdressers, Hairstylists, and Cosmetologists

A cosmetology manager is a person who practices cosmetology and who is responsible for supervising and managing the operation of an establishment and ensuring that the establishment operates in compliance with Chapter 454 of the Wisconsin Statutes and rules promulgated by the Barbering and Cosmetology Examining Board. No person may act as a manager of an establishment unless he or she holds a cosmetology manager license issued by the Barbering and Cosmetology Examining Board. Continuing education is required for licensees providing the following procedures: 1) Laser hair removal – at least 6 hours in programs specific to laser hair removal 2) Microdermabrasion - at least 6 hours in programs specific to microdermabrasion 3) Chemical Exfoliation – at least 6 hours in programs specific to chemical exfoliation FEES: Application fees equal $187-Initial credential, $82-Renewal fee, $107 with late fee; due by March 31st of odd-numbered years. reviewed 04/13
